Microsoft Takes Control of 99 Websites Used By “Malicious Group”
Redmond, Washington-based American multinational technology company Microsoft (MSFT) develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services.
Microsoft (MSFT) recently took control of 99 websites used by a “malicious group” reported to be connected to Iranian Hackers, after tracking the group since 2013. The websites via the hackers were reported to be used to abduct information from government agencies and businesses via a technique called spear-phishing to mislead users as they presented themselves as belonging to Microsoft or Yahoo.
Microsoft has redirected the information to a secure repository which will help them to study and analyze the group activities better. Microsoft along with other tech companies, especially Yahoo are working to ensure a safe environment for users. Facebook has also removed various pages, groups, and account related to Iran’s malicious activities.
