Google Assistant Tops Smart Speaker Charts in Ability Test
Loup Ventures, a research company, found in its recent Smart Speaker IQ Test that Google Assistant was the most efficient when compared with its competitors.
The test gave a set of 800 questions to five smart speakers: Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Google Assistant, Apple’s (AAPL) Siri, Amazon’s (AMZN) Alexa, and Microsoft’s (MSFT) Cortana. The devices were given questions falling into five different sections including local information, commerce, navigation, general info, and commands.
The results showed that Google Assisstant led the way in effectiveness as it answered 87.9% of the questions accurately. In comparison, Siri had only a 74.6& accuracy rate. This was still up from 52% when it was last tested in February, making it the most improved. Alexa came in 3rd with 72.5% and Cortana in the last place at 63.4%.
As the smart speaker war continues to ramp up, Google Assistant’s edge in accuracy has been a major factor in why it has been moving in on Alexa’s dominance in the home speaker sector.
