Apple Looks to Merge Apps Across Main Devices
Dow 30 component Apple (AAPL) revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Today Apple leads the world in innovation with iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Apple’s four software platforms — iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS — provide seamless experiences across all Apple devices and empower people with breakthrough services including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay and iCloud. Apple’s more than 100,000 employees are dedicated to making the best products on earth, and to “leaving the world better than they found it.”
In an effort to simplify its gadgets, Apple has plans to make its own Mac chips so that the same apps can be used on iPhone, iPad, and the Mac. This initiative will make it easier for software coders to create tools, games, and apps for its main devices all at once.
The overhaul, which is expected to be complete by the year 2021, will allow developers to create an app and have it work on all the company’s main gadgets.
Also in the works for Apple is a premium Apple News subscription offering and an original video content initiative.
